1st Azerbaijani National Cooking workshop

 "Azeri Yemeklari"

Alberta Azerbaijani Cultural Society invites you to the first national cooking workshop "Azəri Yeməkləri"!

The aim of this workshop is to share our experiences in preparation of Azeri national food (North+South), to enjoy the best food in the world and to prepare a menu for the Azeri Pavilion in Heritage days 2007.

This family event will take place on Sunday, September 3rd 2006 at Turkish Canadian Community Centre, which is located at
15450- 105 Av, NW, second floor, from 11AM till 5PM.
For those, who had never been there before: Turkish Community Centre is an excellent place for various family events as it has
 very big meeting room but also a playing room for children under 5 years and well equipped computer room for elder children. 
It also has a huge kitchen full of kitchenware and 2 ovens.

We will be happy to see you participating in our cooking competition. You and your family members can either cook or try your favorite national dish, and decide what will look the best on Azeri Menu for next Heritage days.

How the workshop will work:

  1. We encourage everyone (baylar va xanimlar) to participate in this workshop.

  2. You should decide in advance what kind of Azeri national food you want to prepare (or you can chose to teach us how to prepare the food of your choice).

  3. You should bring with you all necessary products (raw or half-prepared). There is cooking ware which will be good enough for several dishes. But if you wish you can bring your kitchenware as well. Products should be enough for 3-4 persons, as everyone will just try a dish.

  4. After cooking is done, we will try and discuss our dishes and chose the winners of the best 3 dishes.

  5. First 3 winners will get a price from ALACS. First 3 winners will also be honored to make a final decision on Azeri Menu 2007.

  6. We will provide snacks, refreshments and samovar tea!

Azəri Yeməkləri workshop will be supported with life national music (tar+saz) by Shahmurad bey, tapmacalar by Mayya Saraj and Meshadibad movie.
UPDATE: Thanks to everyone for participating in this wonderful event! Our winners are: Marziyya xanim, ( 7 votes for the first place for cooking dovga), Farid bey (9 votes for the second place for cooking Tabriz-kuftasi) and Nadir bey (10 votes for the third place for cooking badimcan-chigirtmasi).
