The word "Azerbaijan" is translated from Arabic as "The Land of Fire". Some historians believe that Azerbaijan was named so because of famous Yanar Dag - the mountain,  which is burning due to natural oil and gas resources for several thousand years.  Others refer this name to Zoroastrianism, religion,  which was born near Urmia Lake (West Azerbaijan, Iran). Takhte Suleyman (Throne of Suleyman), the ancient fire temple located on the shore of Urmia Lake used as evidence to confirm this theory.
